Campaign Overview

A new academic year means renewed hopes for future and new dreams to behold! It is the time to meet new friends and classmates again, get new books out and learn again. A new academic year thus means a step further towards a bright future, filled with the light of education. Those of us who have completed their schools and colleges don't get this piece of happiness at the start of a new academic year. However, we can give this happiness to unprivileged children by helping them to attend school. We can relive our school days with them. Wouldn't it be wonderful to ensure that these children like every other child of the society have uninterrupted schooling? Midday meal scheme (MDMS) is a step in the direction ensuring the uninterrupted schooling to unprivileged kids. It is a programme of the government of India in which free lunches are served on working days to children of primary and upper primary classes of government schools. MDMS simultaneously aims to improve the nutritional level of unprivileged school-age children and enhance their enrolment, retention, and attendance at schools. Akshayapatra a nonprofit NGO works with the government of India under the centralized model of implementation of MDMS. It cooks and delivers the meal to school.
