Campaign Overview

Hi everyone! This year, we are hosting a birthday fundraiser for Akshaya Patra, an NGO providing food relief, including cooked meals and groceries, to vulnerable communities in India, such as migrant laborers and homeless people. As the country had been  under complete lockdown, vulnerable populations are experiencing even greater hardships, including joblessness, food insecurity, and heightened risk of illness. Akshaya Patra is aiding the government's disaster relief work across India through its nationwide network of kitchens and local partnerships (with national and state governments and other civic organizations). As of September 28, 2020, Akshaya Patra has provided over 87.5 Million meals and grocery kits so far for COVID-19 relief specifically. Here in the United States, we are fortunate to be able to stay home, keep working or studying, and grocery shop relatively easily. Millions of people in India are not so privileged, and we hope to use this fundraiser to support the lifesaving work Akshaya Patra is doing. It would mean a lot to me if you could donate a few dollars to the cause -- please consider supporting Akshaya Patra for my birthday! Even before COVID-19, Akshaya Patra worked tirelessly to provide meals to school-age children throughout India to ensure that families did not have to choose between providing an education or providing food to their children. It feeds over 1.8 million children every day, and has a mission of feeding 5 million children a day by 2025. Akshaya Patra has also been awarded the Gold Shield Award for 7 consecutive years by the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) for transparency in accounting, and it is the only NGO in India to be in the ICAI Hall of Fame.
