The lockdown to contain the COVID-19 Pandemic in India has unfortunately affected the poorest section of the population the most. Those who depend on daily wages or with minimal savings cannot access food and daily essentials during this time. Akshaya Patra, world’s largest non-profit school meal program that serves 1.8 million children every day, is using its network of centralized kitchens to provide meals and dry groceries to thousands of underprivileged people including children, women, elderly across the country. So far the foundation has served 4.8 Million Cooked Meals and Distributed 2.5 Million Dry Ration kits to COVID affected families. Akshaya Patra is one of India’s most credible and transparent non-profit organization. It has been recognized with national & international awards such as BBC Global Food Champion, Nikkei Asia Award for Social Innovation, National Child Welfare Award, Gandhi Peace Prize, Hall of Fame of ICAI and is backed by leading institutions such as Infosys, Microsoft, Deutsche Bank, Mastercard, MUFG, GlaxoSmith Kline, CISCO.
